Applications for the WA training awards are OPEN

July 1, 2020

The Western Australian Training Awards (WATA) is the State’s premier awards program recognising excellence in vocational education and training (VET) and the outstanding achievements of our VET students, apprentices and trainees, practitioners and training providers, organisations and employers.

The new streamlined program for 2020 will focus on five individual categories for VET students, which articulate through to the Australian Training Awards.

The 2020 Individual award categories are:

  • WA Apprentice of the Year

  • WA School-based apprentice of the Year

  • WA Trainee of the Year

  • WA Vocational Student of the year

  • WA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year

Why should I apply?

In addition to the recognition and opportunities these prestigious awards bring, winners in an individual category will receive $3,000 to further their training or kick start their career.

Furthermore, WA Training Awards winners or finalists are provided the opportunity to become an ambassador for VET in WA, with the category winners invited to promote the sector on a national scale through a variety of additional activities, including.

  • photo and video shoots promoting their achievements;

  • media opportunities (speaking with local press, radio and online journalists);

  • panel discussions; WA training forums; national and state conferences; and

  • professional development days and industry/VET sector event
