Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) - Cross Sector Projects

November 26, 2018

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has established nine cross-sector projects to address common skills needs, minimise duplication of units, consolidate existing units and remove units that are no longer being used.

This will reduce the levels of complexity in the vocational education and training (VET) system, improve worker mobility through a standardised approach, allowing recognition of qualifications between occupations and address issues of low enrolments in some courses.

To achieve these outcomes, the cross sector projects will seek a coordinated response between Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) with an interest in developing training products to address new or emerging skills.

The projects that have been delegated to Skills Service Organisations are:

  • Automation

  • Big data

  • Digital skills

  • Cyber security

  • Supply chains

  • Environmental sustainability

  • Work and participation bank

  • Inclusion of people with disability

  • Consumer engagement through social media
