Workforce Priorities

 

The Australian manufactured mineral products industry includes a diverse range of areas which use minerals sourced from the extractive industries, such as quarrying. These minerals are used to produce a range of products utilised by other downstream industries. Products include cement, concrete products, glass, clay and ceramics, and fibre cement products.

 

The Resources Industry Training Council (RITC) produces 6-monthly updates on identified workforce priorities for the mining, oil and gas industries. The updates examine issues, strategies and actions identified by industry, to guide the development of a skilled workforce to meet the needs of industry in Western Australia.

The Resource Industry Training Council (RITC) is a state government funded joint venture between Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME) and the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association Ltd (APPEA), gathering industry intelligence, on current trends, skills gaps and training needs, which it provides to industry, the State Training Board (STB), Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD), the WA Government. RITC governance is facilitated through the RITC Advisory Board.
